indication of submenus

HI All

Todays silly question is re menu's  i'd like an indication that a submenu is available when the drop down is activated from a top menu eg as below with cat 4 indicating it has a submenu - is this possible? not necessarily like the below but you get the idea!

>> cat 1
>> cat 2
>> cat 3
>> cat 4 >
>> cat 5

yes

you can select parent category on the category edit:-
Admin>Catalog>Category
