CEB: easy site editing for non-IT team members

Challenge

CEB (Continuing Education of the Bar) is a self-supporting program of the University of California that produces books, programs and a range of products for the legal profession. Cosponsored by the State Bar of California, CEB is committed to providing practical legal resources — useful information about the law and about the practice of law — to help California lawyers achieve success.

The CEB e-commerce site had run reliably on the Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 platform for over a decade. It was time to upgrade their outdated system to provide their customers with a more engaging user experience.

CEB’s requirements included (1) classic web and mobile capabilities, (2) modern user interface design, (3) easy content updating and management and (4) an up-to-date open source platform. The goal was a more engaging system that improved customer experience and supported faster, more flexible content publishing.

Solution

Terrace designed an open source nopCommerce prototype to establish CEB’s customization needs. The e-commerce site was then designed and developed by Terrace and supported by a core of CEB’s team to meet tight budget and timeline constraints.

Aside from helping CEB customize their chosen theme, Terrace also created a payment plugin for integrating with cybersource.

Result
