Subject says it all, I suspect dodgy code, need help fast, willing to pay if you can help me out.

Had 2 people look at server, but had no luck so it must be down to code, unsure how to find the offending script in nop.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

Hi,

How much RAM does your server have? How much RAM are all of your other applications using? It's possible you have 3 GB of RAM, but all of your other apps use 2.75 GB of it. I've seen the CPU at 100%, when you run out of RAM and sometimes when a website first loads (app pool starting up.)

Is the database server on the same server as the website?

On what page does the CPU hit 100%?

Does this problem persist with the latest version of nopCommerce, 2.3?

I too suggest 2.3.  It's not a speed demon either, but there were performance issues addressed.

Agree with New York

My RAM is 3GB

I have a 2.3 version running on ther same server and that runs very very quickly.

The database is on the same server.

I have managed to supress the constant CPU usage by implementing caching on the category menu, navigation menu and productsearch functions that has helped immensely.

Unfortunately, as much as i would like to upgrade to 2.3, 2.1 is the newest version that supports the SagePay payment module, until this is updated i'm stuck on 2.1 :(

Thanks for getting back to me guys.

How you managed to supress the constant cpu usage? Can you share how you do it for product search?

Thanks

Hi, I upgraded to 2.3 which resolved the problem, the caching is commented out in the categorycontroller

Thanks,

Dave

Hi, thanks for your reply. What do you mean by "commented out"?

In 2.1, the caching is in there, but commented out by default.

If you category/manufacturer navigation is on every page and rearely changes, i'd suggest adding this in to increase performance.

Cheers
