Copyright removal - License - Telerik

Hi,

I have the following questions on licensing. We want to use this code commercially and we will pay for the copyright removal.

- After we pay, can we remove the license information in the CODE (not just on the website)?

- After we pay, does the license grant me full rights to do anything to the code? Is it as though we have written the code? :-)  We want to change the namespaces, etc.

- Do we have to open source our code that we built on top of this or any modifications that we made?

- I see that Telerik controls are used in the Admin project. Should we need to get their "commercial license" just because nopcommerce is using it? If we remove/rewrite the pages without Telerik, are we good?

Please let us know what you think.

Thanks,
Jonna.

What do you mean by license information? "powered by nopCommerce"? Copyright removal key allows you to remove "powered by nopCommerce" text at the bottom of public store (that' all). All other "nopCommerce" references can be removed even without the key.

No. See my answer above. Copyright removal key allows you to remove "powered by nopCommerce" text at the bottom of public store (that' all). The code source  still should be licensed under NPLv2 (GPLv2). https://www.nopcommerce.com/licenseV2.aspx. GPLv2 is very popular license. There are a lot of articles and explanations about it over the Internet.

The GPL does not require you to release your modified version, or any part of it. You are free to make modifications and use them privately, without ever releasing them. This applies to organizations (including companies), too; an organization can make a modified version and use it internally without ever releasing it outside the organization.
But if you release the modified version to the public in some way, the GPL requires you to make the modified source code available to the program's users, under the GPL.
Thus, the GPL gives permission to release the modified program in certain ways, and not in other ways; but the decision of whether to release it is up to you. (http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#GPLRequireSourcePostedPublic)

See my answer to the second question. Any derivative works should also be licensed under GPLv2. Hence you do not need Telerik commercial license.
