What's the status on Smartsotre.net vs NopCommerce?

After several more pre-court letters all required documents have been sent to court (a couple of weeks ago). Now we're just waiting when the court will announce the date when the case is held

Sure

On December 18th Smartstore asked the court for extension of time - 3 weeks. The court approved.

OK. Let's wait

Hi Andrei

I find it a bit strange that your premium partner arvixe.com offers smartstore in their web gallery.

It's absolutely fine. Arvixe (like any other hosting company) offers all software which are published into Microsoft Web App Gallery. Any software developer can register and publish his software in this gallery. It's not prohibited. Although Arvixe is our hosting partner it doesn't mean that we (nopCommerce) can decide which software can be installed on Arvixe (available through Microsoft Web App Gallery)

Thank you for clarifying, if they lose in court there will be some" cleaning up" to do for them ..

SmartStore still continues to copy all the new features from nopCommerce without meeting the license terms. Now they completely copied the new simplified product logic introduced in nopCommerce 3.10. It has convinced me even more that these guys are just silly developers. Previously I did not encourage posts from nopCommerce community on SmartStore download page. I'm taking my words back. You can write whatever you think about them here if you want.

Regarding the court. I'll post an update about the case in the near time.

done

I dont understand why its taking so long, I'm not familiar with the German internet Law, however I know in the US and Israel there are ways to put an end for code stealing.
restraining order is one the other is suing for a large amount of money (damages).
Further I thing u should start procedures  against codeplex .

One last thing, u can start sending letters to store owners, as I understand they also in violation of nopCommerce licence.

I know its an expensive procedure, but I believe some of us can help up with contributing some money for that.

good luck

The next court date will be on April 3rd. Some paper work required.

I was advised to not posting much details on the forums. So currently that's all I can publish here. All I can say now that everything is going fine. SmartStore is only trying to play for time. It's also trying to make me spend some money hoping that I'll just give up. No way!

I'll keep you informed.

Thanks for the update Andrei and for permission to post a review on CodePlex ;)

Done:

"WARNING: This software apparently violates the original license of the product that it was forked from. The developers have been politely asked to comply with that license but they refuse to do so. I am sorry to say they are now being taken to court in Germany for said violation. Obviously the software is excellent since it was copied from an excellent product."

Keep up your outstanding work.
