and it will not work if your customer comes to your site without using the correct address - on the secure pages they will get a certificate error which looks really bad This topic is very useful https://www.nopcommerce.com/Boards/Topic.aspx?TopicID=2505
I'm having a similar problem, and need some help here.
Without SSL enabled, everything works good.
With SSL enabled (SSL certificate for web.mydomain.com), initial pages on site are using http://web.mydomain.com/..., but when i try to click on "add to cart" button, the site switches to https://web.mydomain.com/... and I get displayed a "Your shopping cart is empty" page.
If the user logs in, then doing the above works just fine (going from http to https). But this is a big problem for new users that have not been prompted or instructed to create a user account yet.
Now the big confusing factor is that this all happens using IE8. When i try it using Safari, everything works just fine!??! Unfortunately, not using IE8 is not really an option...
Can anyone shed some light on this? Very frustrating
