New site: HuntByMoon.com. LOTS of customizations.

Hi,

I've been working on this one for a while and it finally went live a couple of days ago. Custom design, custom core modifications, custom web services.

The site basically sells access to a web service that I've wrapped in an AJAX-y interface. The web service performs advanced astronomy calculations on each call, and then uses that data to make predictions about whitetail deer behavior. This service is custom tailored to the North American hunting market.

BIG thanks to the NopCommerce team for creating such an amazing and flexible eCommerce system! Even though I'm a .NET developer for a living, I learned lots of great stuff from digging through the NopCommerce code base. Cheers!

I've noticed some of the other showoff sites load really slow on the first request. I recommend that folks take advantage of the built-in keep-alive function in nopCommerce. This requires you to have some external process that calls the /KeepAlive/Ping.ashx URL of your site. It's as easy as finding a cheap cronjob-providing site that calls that URL every 5 minutes. This will keep your app pool from falling asleep so that your site doesn't have to spin up on a first request. Your site will appear much more snappy. Cheers.

Yeah, something's totally jacked. One of my sites with that host is working fine, while huntbymoon.com is completely non-responsive to pings at both the host name and the IP address. Time for a new host, methinks.
