How to display manufacturer logos/images instead of manufacturer names in the left column section?

By default in the left column, as we add manufacturers , their name is being displayed.

How to display manufacturer logos/images instead of manufacturer names in the left column section?

This would require development.

You will need to add a new property to manufacturer to store and image or image path.

Have a look at the category image implementation.
