Home page customisation

Hi I am new to nop commerce, and I am trying to customise the home page by rearranging the elements like merging the search bar in the top menu etc.

I would like to know what is the best practice to do this without breaking the up gradation in the future.

I am using version 4.3.0

If it's only limit to home page customization then it's okay but if you will have many more customization on other pages then I would strongly recommend to create new theme.

It will be lot easier to update your changes to compatible with nopcommerce upcoming versions.
