configuring email on nop commerce 1.5

hello,

how do we configure email on nop commerce, at present when we send a contact us email message saying mail is send is displayed however mails are not being received.

You need to configure mail settings.

Have you created a mailbox for your domain ?

If yes, you can use the credentials.

Here are the steps to configure mail setting using gmail account (you can use your domain mailbox settings instead of gmail)

P.S. The link includes steps for configuring mail settings in 1.9v, since you are using 1.5v the only difference will be 3rd step:

3) Go to Admin section > Configuration > Global Settings > Choose tab that says 'Mail Settings"

Rest follow the steps mentioned in the above tutorial.

is enabling ssl a prerequisite for enabling email cause we are not using ssl and whenever we are trying to send the email we get the following error.

"Server does not support secure connections"

Like I mentioned above that the tutorial is only for gmail which requires SSL

But if you are using your domain mailbox or any other mailbox you don't need to check enable ssl.

no you don't need to install SSL on your server. It is very straight forward if you are using gmail just check the "Enable SSL" option  (gmail uses it's own server's ssl service) and if you are using your domain mailbox then make sure this option is unchecked - that's it.

No need to install SSL certificate for your mail settings.

excellent thats working fine now, which table in the database these emails are being entered and how can we view them.

upgraded to nop commerce 1.9 and now while upgrading the email, the following error shows on trying to send a test mail


"Request for the permission of type 'System.Net.Mail.SmtpPermission, System, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed."
