Can't add product to a blank database

Hello!

I have installed ver 1.6 using the web platform and all that went well.  First installed it with the sample database and all seemed OK.

Did the same in another domain except installed a blank database.  This time I couldn't add any products, in fact, on the add products part there was no table, etc to enter a new record.

Any ideas?

Also, what about installing the latest ver (1.9) - the web platform put it locally and I want it on my site.

Anything you can do to help is appreciated.
