Shipping Methods and UPS Carrier Service

Hello-
Can someone make this clear for me, i'm just confused about:
1) Configurations-->Shipping-->Shipping Methods (Ground,Next Day Air, 2nd Day Air)
2) Configurations-->Shipping-->Shipping Rate Computation Methods--> Configure UPS , chose Carrier Services.

I cannot understand what is the relations about those two locations ? is they are related ?
If I add new Ship methods , how it will be configured with UPS !!

Rate Computation Method is "what plugins should show up to offer shipping services?"  UPS is one of them, USPS could be another.  Within the UPS plugin, Shipping Methods are "how should UPS get it there?"  Ground, Air, Next Day Air, etc.

These are only used by the "internal" rate computation methods - e.g. By Weight, Fixed Rate. The "External" rate computation methods, like UPS, USPS, etc. don't use them, and instead, you select the services/methods on their own configuration page.
