Installation won't start

Turn on remote errors in web.config:

<customErrors mode="Off"/>

(That is a capital "O")  This might point you in the right direction.  If not, and you are able to see the errors, post them back here if you don't understand them.

Thanks. Decided to try to upgrade from 1.90 but the upgrade.sql doesn't seem to match the database tables.

I'm trying to install the No-Source version 2.30 and did edit the permissions like the Nopcommerce userguide recommended and some of the tips from here.

Is the part "HostingSpaces" coming from my Hosting Provider or is it from the Nopcommerce script?

That's going to be the folder names on the actual hard drive of the web server at your hosting company.  

Basically, this means that the permissions are not set.  Get with them and see if you have the ability to set the correct permissions.

What user did you give these permissions too?

for the "Modify permission" issue:

if you are using Arvixe, simply go to control panel-> websites -> (your website name) -> home tab , just enable the check box: "Enable Write Permissions"
