MVC product variants

I have downloaded the source code for version 2.3 and am trying to import products into the shop but am stuck with the product variants.

I have products which can have a combination of sizes and colours so the way I was wanting the product display page to work was to display generic product info and have dropdowns for available size and colour with an add to cart button.

I am looking at using product variants / attributes to do this but am not sure of the best way as each different combination needs to be under stock control.

Has anyone else tried doing something like this with this version of nopCommerce?
