which nop commerce should i download for 2.8? web(no source), or Open Source?

i have to start over from my version 2.5 and i dont know which one to download? thank you

Do you want to upgrade? Then you need to download Upgrade Script (2.60), and follow the instructions.

If you will edit the code you need to download the "Source code", if not then download the "Web (no source)".

Thank you. My next question is this, The I.T. guy i was using moved and now i am left doing this with no experience at all. is this something i can do pretty easy or do i need to find someone to do it for me?

Upgrade it is easy.

You need to download scripts for versions 2.60, 2.65, 2.70 and 2.80. Do this consistently for each script:
1. Backup your existing database
2. Execute upgrade.sql script over your database

then

3. Remove all files from the previous version except App_Data\Settings.txt and App_Data\InstalledPlugins.txt
4. Upload new site files (2.80 in your case)
5. Copy back App_Data\Settings.txt and App_Data\InstalledPlugins.txt files
6. Ensure that everything is OK
