How to Restrict the Forums Section to Registered Customers Only

I wanted to know if it is possible to only let the registered users to see the forums section of our website?

Not out of the box, no. It would require that you extend the ACL model, view, and controller to allow for enabling access to the forums for particular roles.

As a simpler work-around, you could just not display the forum links anywhere on your website, and add it to your robots.txt as a no-follow so that search engines don't index it. Then you could send out an email to your registered customers with the link to the forums..or you could put a link to the forum within the body of a topic page which is password protected, and include the password to the topic page in your 'new customer welcome' message template...etc..

Better option could be to put a link to the forum within the body of a topic page which is Limited to customer roles= Registered

Exclude the link from the Site Map too
