Publishing a customized nopCommerce

Has anyone got experience with publishing a customized nopCommerce using the "Publish"-function in Visual Studio? Will it publish all the files I need to run it or will I manually have to copy files from the source to the destination?

I use the 'publish' function in VS to publish the store onto a folder on my local machine - I then I use filezilla to upload the files onto my server

I think there is an option to publish directly to the server but i never tried it - years ago i used to use the file transfer function of VWD but always found it too slow (that's when I started using filezilla !)
