Using Schedule task to update/refresh every category on webshop?

Hello
We are using a ERP system to manage our stock/import products

Sometimes i've noticed that the category do not update and or assign the new products where it should
(So i need to manually go in and click update in the Edit category details the to get products assigned)

Is it possible to use Schedule task to once every night to run an update and if so how?

If you are "importing" your product information via SQL, then you need to update the SEO slugs too.  Search the forums for related issues, as it's been discussed before.

But i am not sure that it is the SEO slugs that is not causing us problems

Should not a Category placement still be assigned to a product even without SEO SLUG?
I still find the product in the store using search but just without a category placement (when i update category it gets assigned)

For Example a book have in my store can have two or three unique placements
Category -Authors name,
Category- new product
Category -Starting letter of the last name
(We are not using the - show all products from subcategories,  thanks to the sheer amount of products we have)

That is why i asked about the possibility to bulk update category
