I installed it in my Azure website. But the left side panel is not shown as follows.
Is it right view ?

I misunderstood that sample data were also installed because Nivo Slider included some pictures.
But these pictures were installed in the plugin directory.
I added some data to the database and the left panel is shown.

Sorry to hijack the post but -

Is it possible to download the source from Azure? So if a client sets up a site on Azure and then decides he wants customisations. Can this be done?

Sure. Find more info here. You can FTP like on any other hosting

I installed ver2.8 into Azure by source compiling.  It enables us to use SQL Server Compact and sample data as follows.

Wish I had seen that link 2 days ago.  I now have the site up and running, now I need to start making changes.
Any pointers are welcomed.
