FANTASTIC that ver. 3.0, and especially Multi-Store is expected to be released in 2-3 weeks!
Thanks a.m. for working so feverishly :) on this! I can't start marketing my products until I'm able to manage more than one store from one Admin.
Then again... maybe I read wrong before? If for example I have 3 nop stores, will I be able to consolidate stores #2 and #3 and manage them from store #1 after 3.0 is released, or will I need to set up stores #2 and #3 all over again?
Do/will stores #2 and #3 need to be under the same URL/domain name, or can they be anywhere else?

All managed from one consolidated administration. They all have to have a different URL (domain.com/store1, domain.com/store2, are NOT valid).
Excellent news! Just the way I want to have them :)
Thanks VERY much!

One other thing that might be useful for mixed B2B/B2C scenarios would be separation of shipping methods and payment methods between stores. I am not sure if this topic was posted before since this is a long thread :) Generally, I see two potential scenarios for using this multi-store (not multi vendor or multi-tennant). Either for having two different product catalogues (or brands) or for having mixed B2B/B2C scenarios. In the latest scenario, the price rules might be different as well (list prices, online prices, sales discounts, customer roles etc). Hope this helps.
I will download the beta version today and give it a try. I might have some other suggestions as well.
About 10 years ago I created multi-store application that works over internet from central location. Your application is going into direction of point of sale/web store. Next logical step is to create front end where cashier can process orders and print receipts, support for bar-code printing, and shift change. Ability for people at the cash register to take PayPal id will push sales up. Also people will be able to pay lay-away payments at any location.
