Hi

How do I upgrade from v1.5 to v1.6 or 1.7?
Do I need Visual Studio or can I just overwrite my site and will there come an option to upgrade on the screen?

depends how much customisation you made to the original UI

but for your database, you will need to  (see this post https://www.nopcommerce.com/boards/t/5727/cant-upgrade-from-14-to-17-anyone-can-assist.aspx )

you can also download the new store and run it - follow the onscreen instructions

remember to make a backup of your database before you start
