Prodcut Weight - quick question

Hello,

One quick question. I'm assuming to make "Estimate shipping" on checkout page work properly we need weight for the products I'm selling. Is that right or there is a work around this?

If you are using shipping methods like UPS / FedEX / USPS etc then yes you need weight for the products saved in  your database.

Instead of using shipping methods/services  > If you are charging a fixed amount of shipping but based on weight (Shipping By Order Weight ) - Yes, you need weight in this case also.

Thanks indeed for help, however, few questions remain.

1) Sometimes an item must be calcualted base on its dimension (e.g. length, width and etc). How that would work?
2) Is there anyway to hide estimate shipping and instead, admin add shipping fees after calculating items and issue/finalizing an order?
