I am trying to install the latest version of nopCommerce and have uploaded the files onto my webserver

However when I open a browser to the URL I get the following error

500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

This is the first time I have ventured to installing software onto a Windows Server - obviously I am doing something wrong and if anyone can provide a simplified procedure on how to install nopCommerce it REALLY would be most appreciated.

Kind Regards

To see the original error message you should find the <customErrors> tag in the "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory. This <customErrors> tag have the "mode" attribute, you should set it's value to "Off".

Or you can see it in the log, if you can access to the admin area.

Hi... Thanks for the reply.

I get the error immediately after uploading the program to my webserver and trying to open the URL.

Could some one just provide a few details on the installation procedure. I have followed that what is mentioned on the nopCommerce site which basically says upload to webserver and open the URL in a browser.

Obviously I am missing something rather basic.

Do you read this: Installing nopCommerce?

Hi Again thanks for the reply and yes I have seen the pages you have mentioned.

As I trying to get the installation working on to a remote web server and have tried working through the installation guide as mentioned. When I try to publish the nop.web my evaluation version of MS Studio just crashes.

Without any understanding of MS Studio etc and rebuilding and publishing I think I may have to abort this unless there is a more detailed and explained method of installing the nopcommerce software.

Essentially I am trying to upload the software to a web server (On a windows 2008 Server and have SQL databases available) but am totally unsure on the procedure to achieve this.

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Hi. Further to my recent posts, I can now get to the nopCommerce installation screen on my laptop witha URL of localhost.

However if I publish the site and upload using an FTP connection to my server, all the files are uploaded BUT I still get a

Server Error
500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

Has anyone got any ideas on where I am still going wrong.
