PayPal Reoccurring Payments

Hello,

I am currently using NOP 2.60.

We have just recently tried to add a product and accept reoccuring payments for it.  All of our payments are using the PayPalDirect payment method.

Reoccuring payments throw this error message.

Payment error: LongMessage: DPRP is disabled for this merchant. ShortMessage: DPRP is disabled. ErrorCode: 11586

After talking to PayPal they are telling me that our account is an Advanced account and we would need to setup a new account which is a pro account with reoccuring payment option.  This account will cost $60/month vs our current $5/month.  They also said that if NOP support doing reference transactions rather than DPRP we wouldn't have to upgrade the account.  

Is there anyway to do reference transactions for reoccuring payments in NOP?  Am I missing anything else?

Hello Everyone,

I am now wondering if I could just make the reoccuring payments manually processed in NOP?  What I mean is NOP would process the initial payment as a regular payment and save the order/cc information.  I would then come back to the order and manually process the order again next month.  Is this possible?  I read about manually processing re occuring payments but it appeared that I would run into the same problem where I can't even create a reocurring payment without PayPal supporting it.
