2.65 Slow category pages? SOLVED

Using v2.65

I was having some performance issue relating to slow loading category pages, these pages were taking approx 6-9secs to load, which was way too long.

Fixing this problem?

I managed to move my database from SQL Compact to SQL Server 2008, doing this allowed me to use the stored procedure (that comes with the nop installation) to run the Product Search, this has greatly improved load times, which are now around 3-5 secs, much better.

This tool helped analyse my page load issues too, highly recommended

Can you please expand on how you used the stored procedure provided with nopcommerce for this?  Does this require a code change or is the a config change?

If you use regular SQL Server rather than Compact, the stored procedure is used automatically. (No manual config is needed)

Oh, I'm already using regular SQL server and am seeing a several second delay when clicking a category link.  Any other suggestions?
