Hide anywhere slider for mobile

With Googles new update, page speed is now calculated on mobile devices, the home page nivo slider control is rendering an image for the mobile device that I would like to turn off just for screens below 750, after a look at the code, there is no easy method to do this, any help would be good.

Please note: hiding the image with css does not work as its still downloaded and still increases the load time, so the solution would be to not load the control at all.

anybody know how to do this? It should be a feature as default in the platform.
