Customer Roles

Is there anything that defines how the various customer roles are used by the application?

In particular, I am interested in allowing specific customers the ability to post blog articles (not comments).  Would I use one of the existing roles, or is it possible to define new roles and only allow access to blog posting in the Admin panel?

Ok.   Well, I was able to use ACL's, Customer Roles / Content Manager to basically do what I want.  It would be great however, to have the ability to dynamically define new Customer Roles (such as Blog Manager) in the Admin Panel without needing to customize.

Also, it would be good to have an option to set the page that a Customer Role defaults to when logging into the Admin Panel and to restrict access to the Dashboard.
