spam prevention - Akismet service perhaps?

Any plans for a comment spam prevention feature being added? I just realized i have several thousand spam comments in my news and blog sections. the askimet service i know is used in wordpress and several others, not sure if it costs something or not, but it seems to work well.

No. But it would be great if somebody could contribute it.
BTW, I've just created a work item to add CAPTCHA support for comments

Right. Maybe, it could be done as plugin, but will require some minor core changes

is it supported to have a plugin create and run scheduled tasks? Was thinking this might be the easiest way to implement this.

Yes. Have a look at built-in MailChimp or Froogle (Google Product Search) plugins
P.S. Schedule task in Froogle was added in version 2.50

just noticed a bunch more junk in the forum, im running 3.2 now so was curious if any spam prevention efforts had made progress. thanks

I've used Akismet spam protection on all of my Umbraco sites (Contact forms - I get next to zero spam!), and today, I thought about integrating it with nopCommerce.

I've started work on enabling it so that it can be used on the contact form, reviews, blog/news comments, forum etc - Once done, I'll create a pull request :)
