I'm wondering if the code in install.aspx is correct for running on any hosting service, subdomains, virtual directory configured as Applications... From what I see it will not correctly locate it's .config files. The directory function used is not relative to the web home but to the domain home on the server... If read it correctly.
Also... that should/might create problems with message like this after the installation:
