Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I'm on the last installation page and I changed the username and password to my preferred setting and I hit save changes and 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.' appeared in red down the bottom. 'Go to Site' then takes me back to the first installation screen. Anyone seen this?

I have installed in a subdomain and I had that Task Manager problem, so I used stephan's solution to fix the .ascx

I'll just respond to my own problem here. I reconfigured my subdomain to be a physical hosting, rather than a subfolder and it all works fine. The reason I am doing this is to separate the landing page from the store so that I can easily add other applications, in this case a wordpress blog, as additional subdomains.
