modify permissions on root folder

I had this problem in every host i tried to install nopcommerce.
They all allow me to change permissions on files and sub-folders but not on root folder.
Do we realy need modify permissions to root folder?
Isn't it enough all the other permissions described on the manual?

you don't have to modify permissions on root folder if you install nopcommerce manually without the installer.
If you want to configure google checkout then you need to modify permissions on web.config or you can write the values there manually

You don't need to give full permission go your root folder.

but yes. you have to give write permission to your images folder. b'coz all images will be uploaded inside this folder.

so you must have a rights to this folder.

So, if i  understand correctly, the root permissions are only  needed during instalation, is this right?

If so, I don't need them, i can go and manually change ConnectionStrings.config, right?


Maybe it would be a good idea to move ConnectionStrings.config to a sub-folder to solve this problem.
