migrate the data to nopcommrce data base from a foreign system

hi,

i would ask about if i can migrate a foreign e-commerce system that have products, categories and products specifications after analyzing the two data bases ( nopCommerce and the foreign system ) , is there some one tried this before ? or there is some points that i should take care about ?

I have Almost the same issue, i already have a provider who allows me to use its Data base (they gave me a user name and password to integarte). What i need to know is how do i do it.
