SQL db problems during installation

Hi all, I apologise if this is posted incorrectly. :)

We have a development domain where we are trying to get through the installation.



I am not experienced with .NET or SQL, however I am very good with asp so I should be able to get through this with some help.

I get the following errors.

when creating new db --------

An error occured when creating database: CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'.
Creating a new database noptest

when trying to use existing db (nopcomm) ---------

An error occured: Line 8: Incorrect syntax near '('.
Running scripts from file: D:\vhosts\ozspyit.com\httpdocs\install\Scripts\nopCommerce_createDatabase.sql

any help would be greatly appreciated

What database version do you use?

I was told this today by server support.

it looks like the version of sql server you are running is not supported by nopCommerce

SQL Server 2005 and 2008 are supported.
SQL Server 2000 is not supported.

I imagine this is why I am having the problem, is there a free version of SQL Server 2008 that is supported by nopCommerce?

SQL Server 2008 Express is supported
