I'm a contributor of the DotLiquid project (all the details here www.dotliquidmarkup.org), and I've integrated it in NopCommerce to provide better support for email templating.
Unfortunately this has been a sponsored integration so I cannot publicly disclose it, but I wonder if developers are interested in doing this task in the next version.
I'm willing to help for what is needed and I think it would be a great feature for NopCommerce.
