putting images on home page

I wanted to put some kinda banner type thing on my page where the welcome to my store message first appeared or where the category icons appear??? if anyone can help that would be great..thnx

If you want to put the banner where the welcome to my store is appered follow the steps
Administration---Content Management ------Topics----
Click on Homepage Text Edit topic content
Remove text in title
Remove  All the text in are and add the image there.
Image will appera where it says Welcome to the store
