Edit jquery jshowoff

I wanna edit a jquery jshowoff slider. I found the file opened it in notepad. What I wanna do is change the amount of time each slide displays. I think the default is 3000. The code reads links: true, speed: 3000. If I change it to 7000 will that effect all slides speeds? Also if I just save and overwrite the original is that I need to do?
