Without SSL everything works perfectly.

When SSL is enabled when I hit the confirm button on checkoutconfirm.aspx it takes me to "Your shopping cart is empty"

Any help is greatly appreciated! The site is live and this is holding it up. Thank You!

1. Are checkout pages SSL secured (e.g. CheckoutBillingAddress.aspx, CheckoutPaymentInfo.aspx etc)?
2. What payment gateway do you use?

Thank you it has been resolved.

The problem was solved by forcing in Global.asax all www.domainname.com to domainname.com without the www.

I hope this helps others with the same problem.

I'm ignorant here...
How does that fix it?

The problem was at that time as follows:

I was going from www.domainname.com to https for domainname.com and then ordercompleted would have been on www.domainname.com

If I stuck to one the whole time domainname.com where the https certificate matched without the www. then it worked fine.

when you buy  an ssl, you will buy it for either

yourdomain.com
or
www.yourdomain.com

and it will not work if your customer comes to your site without using the correct address - on the secure pages they will get a certificate error which looks really bad

I'm having a similar problem, and need some help here.

Without SSL enabled, everything works good.

With SSL enabled (SSL certificate for web.mydomain.com), initial pages on site are using http://web.mydomain.com/..., but when i try to click on "add to cart" button, the site switches to https://web.mydomain.com/... and I get displayed a "Your shopping cart is empty" page.

If the user logs in, then doing the above works just fine (going from http to https).  But this is a big problem for new users that have not been prompted or instructed to create a user account yet.

Now the big confusing factor is that this all happens using IE8.  When i try it using Safari, everything works just fine!??!  Unfortunately, not using IE8 is not really an option...

Can anyone shed some light on this?  Very frustrating
