Adding new attribute options to several products

Hi,

Let's say I have 200 widgets, and they come in one color: black.

A year later, we decide to expand our line and start offering all of our widgets in colors red, blue, purple, green, and black.  I see that I can add a product attribute called "color," and I understand that I would have to add the attribute to each product, but do I also have to add each color each time to each attribute instance?  That's 1,200 edits!

I hope there's an easier way.  Thanks!

you would have to yes,

- you could do some clever manipulation in the database which would make it much quicker ( I did this with a lot of alphabet attributes+values (60 x A,B,C .... )
