Thanks for your help with this...
After way too much time playing around with the code, recompiling, debugging,...
I finally realized it was a subversion issue where my working copy was not being updated and I was just pushing up the same file over and over again....
Not sure what was in the original file to cause it to use the default theme. It correctly uses the selected theme now.....
Thanks again for your help, this exercise certainly helped me better understand how the framework fits together....
