How to start customization?

Hi everyone,

I have installed nopcommerece and all works. Where do I start from to customize the homepage look with the design I have for my site? in default.aspx I see alot of registered controls and very few lines of code thereafter.

What's the first step?

My skills are so few will not be the best person to help.

But has the default.ascx and oneColumn.Master pages or TwoColumn.Master to define what you want to view.
In the Administration page, is to set the settings you want to view the 1st page (Ex: Best Seller, news ...)
