What's the recommendation in configuring current version of nopCommerce to support "multi-store"? What I'm looking for is the possibility to
- Have a global product catalog
- Group users under companies
- Present users with their company specific selection of products

A simple solution if you do not have many companies/products could be to assign categories (those with products corresponding to a company) to customer roles(in your case "companies") in:
admin>catalog>categories>acces control
