Hi All,

Having read a few threads on issues with installing nopCommerce on GoDaddy hosting, I thought I'd share my experience.

It took a little bit of faffing, but I now have my installation of version 2.40 (no source) up and running.  Essentially having got it up and running locally first, I basically uploaded the whole lot and deleted the Settings.txt file from App_Data.

There are however a couple of things to note.  I have had to resort to using a sub-folder under the Root, as GoDaddy doesn't allow you to set permissions on individual files, only folders.  As such, it is impossible to set the write permissions on Global.asax and Web.config without moving to a sub folder.  Once you have done this, don't forget to set up the IIS Application on this folder from the IIS Settings section in the Hosting Control Panel.

Also, I opted to set up the MSSQL database to allow remote connections.  While this may not be mandatory, I prefer to be able to use Management Studio, so I can see what's going on.  If you do this, you'll find all the information you need in the SQL Server section in the Hosting Control Panel.

If anyone knows a way of installing to the Root folder, I'd like to hear it as I think the sub-folder is a bit messy!

Regards,

Richard.

Once you've done the successful install to the subfolder, you can just move its contents to the root.  see
