Tax is being calculated on pre-discount amount

I am running version 1.30

I have a discount code of 25%. If this discount is applied to the cart, the tax should reflect that.

Currently, the tax is based on the original amount, not the discounted amount.

Yes, it's a bug that should be fixed in the next release

I have a code for 15% discount

Order Subtotal  : £47
Discount : £7.05
Tax (17.5%) : £8.22

That is wrong, tax should be on the net amount of £39.95 (Subtotal minus discount), i.e. £6.99

Just bumping this - I did a clean install of 1.7 and this is definitly the case, tax is being charged on sub-total and NOT sub-total minus discount

Is this by design ?

I too am getting this. Is there any fix we can apply. I am running 1.7 also and this is an important feature to me.
