Having a similar problem, downloaded ver 1.60 copied to server. When I run the install I get the first screen and click next. Then on the SQL Server page enter the server name, username and password then get 'Login failed for User' ..... error every single time and haven't managed to get around it!

Anyone help?

In IIS Manager Select application Pools.
Select the APP POOL associated with NOPCOMMERCE.
Right Click and select advance settings
In Identitiy, Add custom account (SQL account which has access to NOPCOMMERCE DB)
Click OK and reset iis and bingo!!

Add to your SQL logins, the account you want to connect with
Set the role as sysadmin
