Performance in nopCommerce

I was researching about nopCommerce to get to pros and cons of this webshop and to decide to use it in our company or not.
The most mentionend drawback of nopCommerce is the lack of performnace when you have more than 10000 products. Some mentionend a delay more than 30 seconds which is for sure too much. Other say that there is big difference in Page Load in NopCommerce compared to webshops of Amazon, Flipkart & Jabong...
Can you tell me objectively if the performance problems in NOP have been solved or you are facing it when having larger amount of products?

Anyone having problems with nopCommerce due to a large inventory or high traffic volume simply needs to upgrade their server platform. For example, putting both the site and database(+MSSQL server) on the same machine is bad practice for large/busy sites. They should be on two separate, yet proximal, servers.

This is the same for any e-commerce platform.
