import products from Excel

Hi,

I'm trying to import products in vs 1.7 using an excel file. I consistently get the error message 'Products$' is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation and that it is not too long.

The name of my file is products.xls and the file was created using Excel 2003.

Does someone know what could be wrong here? I'm pretty sure the template itself is correct as far as data is concerned.

I found that when I upgraded from 1.6 > 1.8 the Excel template had changed. A couple of new columns had been added. Try exporting your products (or create a dummy product if the site is new) and then using this template as an example.

This fixed it for me.

ps. Your are on "full" trust hosting aren't you ??

Thanks Redmorello, that solved the problem. Still cannot figure out why my original file is rejected as it looks exactly the same though
