Starting Customisation

All,

Have a little bit of experience with .net webforms, C# and asp.net. recently come across this solution, and am impressed. Would really like to understand where to start with customising this. Am I correct in assuming that all the various aspects of configuring and customising the portal are outlined in detail in the user manual? Is that correct?

If not, I'm really interested in understanding where I would start in customising the portal.

The best place to start regarding customisations is to pull down the source from codeplex and look through it. The architecture is straightforward and easy to follow.
