Attributes: Drop Down with Color squares and or Images

Some products have up to 20+ colors. To include 20 plus+ color squares on the display is not aesthetically pleasing and is  cumbersome user experience.  To rectify this can:

Can colors squares be a dropdown where each drop down would include the color square followed by the color description.

Similarly can a  and dropdown include an image followed by a text describing the attribute

It would be possible but you would need to customise the solution
