I have followed the installation instructions for installing v4.40.4 and receive an error 500.
Installation on Windows Server 2012 R2 (IIS v8.0)
Extracted contents of "nopCommerce_4.40.4_NoSource_win_x64.zip" to website folder.

I am confused that there are no .asp, .html, etc., files in the root of the website. There are only .dll, .exe, .json files in the root.

What file is executed when the URL is visited? Do I need to specify a filename in IIS?

It is a .NetCore application
You you need to make a website in IIS
Make sure all the installation requirments are installed

Thanks for your reply. I have referenced the document suggested and followed to the letter, however I'm confused as to which files are required in the root directory of the website. I have created the website instance in IIS which works correctly via the URL when I use a simple "index.html".

Being that I have never installed a .NetCore website application I am a little at sea on this one. Does the root folder of the website contain .dlls? I'm thinking I am not populating the root correctly? As stated in my previous post, I extracted the contents of the .Zip file to the website root.

When you unzip the file that is the root directoy and the structure
It all goes in the IIS web directory as you see it
See https://www.selectsystems.com.au/nopcomemrce-v44-directory-structure
Also see how to setup directory permissions

Yes, directory structure looks the same. Which file "fires" the installation procedure? IIS requires default documents, of which none exist in this structure. My directory structure looks identical to the sample provided, yet no installation procedure evokes.

Yes none of the traditional stuff applies - there are no default documents - its an application
You can set the AppPool as "No managed Code"

If App_Data\dataSettings.json does not exisit the Installation should be run
What happens when you go the site URL ?

The current configuration is ...
.NET 4.5.2 is installed, website configured in IIS and resolves correctly in DNS, Application pool is set to "no managed code", files from .zip file extracted to directory on server associated with IIS website and are visible in "content view".

Visiting website URL produces 500 - Internal Server Error
