Ordering of out-of-stock items

Hi,
I've noticed I get an alert message when trying to order an item with zero stock level
Is there any way to overcome this?
My bussiness' intentions are to enable users ordering even when the product is out of stock (and thus add the user to a waiting list)

Go to your product variant details page and ensure that 'Manage Stock' is set to one of the following values: 'Don't track inventory for this product' or 'Track inventory for this product'. If you seleted 'Track inventory for this product', then ensure that 'Backorders' is set to 'Allow qty below 0' or 'Allow qty below 0 and notify customer'
